FLYING HIGH: Almeria Airport records best passenger numbers since 2008

RECORD: Almeria Airport posted the best figures since 2008 in 2017

MORE than a million passengers used Almeria Airport in 2017, recording the best figures since 2008.

A total of 1,007,446 passengers used the airport last year, representing a growth of 9.5 per cent in comparison to 2016.

The majority of travellers, 995,246 to be exact, flew on commercial flights in 2017 with 624,817 travelling abroad while the other 370,429 travelled to other parts of Spain.

The United Kingdom and Belgium had the most passengers visit the airport in 2017, followed by Sweden, the Netherlands, The Czech Republic, Denmark and Ireland.

A total of 12,218 flights were registered last year, which was also a 4.1 increase on the previous year.
