Cycling success for Hotel Servigroup, Mojácar

0

FOR THE sixth year running, Sunday May 7th saw the ‘La Mojaquera 2017’, the Xtreme Mountain Bike Race that takes place around the Sierra Cabrera. Once again, it’s been proudly sponsored by many local companies, especially the Hotel Servigroup, Marina Playa in Mojácar.

The 74 kilometre route and reaching a height of 2,400 metres makes for a tough and demanding time, although the superb scenery – especially around the starting point of La Playa de Macenas and entering into the Sierra Cabrera itself – takes the competitors minds off the task ahead!

This popular race is part of the Andalucian BTT Ranking and the Almeria Circuit.
It was once again organised for a further year by its creator Gerardo Martínez, who has been behind this exciting event for six years. Once again, this cycling spectacular has attracted a very high level of participation from both national and international competitors.

At the end of the race and awards ceremony was held as part of a meal held in the hotel restaurant belonging to the Servigroup.

The winner of this sixth event of its kind in the elite category was the Cordovan Víctor Manuel Fernández Grande representing the Gsport-Valencian Esport Wolfbike team, with a time of 3 hours and 22 minutes. The second prize went to Castellón Xavier Borrás from Olympia Factory Cycling Team.

In the female category, the winner was the Master 40 Ana Dolores Jiménez, second place was Remedios Jurado de Málaga from C.D. Albox Bike and third place Lisa Anne Tobin, from Ireland.

The climate of Almería during almost all of the year is perfect to allow many cycling groups to practise and prepare pre-season for a variety of events all around the world.

Every year, the Hotel Servigroup Marina Playa welcome great international teams such as Rabobank, Movistar Pro Cycling Team, Bouygues Telecom, Lotto Belisol Cycling Team, Omega Pharma Quick Step, Endura, Ovita, among others, who choose the hotel as a base for their tough training regimes.
