CHANGE OF VENUE FOR MILITARY WIVES CONCERT
Due to the massive demand for tickets for the concert mounted by the Orihuela Costa Male Voice Choir and their special guests – the Military Wives choir – it has become necessary to CHANGE THE VENUE to accommodate both audiences and choirs alike.
The concert was scheduled to be performed on Saturday 25th April at both 2pm and 8pm at La Zenia church on La Zenia Island. The date and times remain the same … but the venue has now been moved to the new Ecumenical Centre – Parroquia Cristo Resucitado – in Calle Diamante.
For those who are unsure of the new address, it can be explained thus:- coming from the La Zenia Island drive towards Villamartin/Zenia Boulevard until you reach the next island. This has both Mercadona and Lidl stores on it. You need to turn LEFT here, but to do so you have to drive another few yards to the next roundabout and turn back on yourself – past the two entries onto the Motorway – and then turn right into C/Diamante. You will see Gilabert the dentist, and De Bassus German pub (with the giant beer glass on top) on your left … then you drive up the road for approx. 400m – past Swedent the dentist – and you will find the church on your left.
The Military Wives Choir is the original group from Chivenor in Devon which appeared with Gareth Malone on BBC television when the now nationally-famous choir was formed. Local pianist Sue Trick, who played for various of Nigel Hopkins’ choirs on the Costa, became pianist to the Military Wives when she returned to live in the UK two years ago. She will play for the group in April’s concerts.
The Orihuela Costa Male Voice Choir, conducted by Nigel Hopkins, will perform an entirely new repertoire of songs in the concerts, culminating in both choirs performing together in a rousing finale. Tickets for the evening performance have long since sold out, but there are still some left for the 2pm performance. These are only available from La Ponderosa gift shop on La Xenia island – priced at 10€ each. All proceeds are going to various charities in both Spain and the UK.
The original tickets bought before the change of venue will still allow patrons to obtain entry to the new venue. A fabulous day of entertainment is promised to all supporters.
